Customer Profile: A small, fashion retailer with less than 50 stores on an extremely aggressive growth trajectory.
Problem Outline: The requirement was to position this retailer for anticipated growth while supporting in-flight expansion of their store base. Complexities included relatively inexperienced business leadership with little or no exposure to enterprise-class solutions and extensive use of Excel to manage many business processes. Per unit costs for logistics were unusually high. Inventory inaccuracy across the enterprise was adversely affecting both store and e-commerce businesses.
Strategy Approach: Establish a solution strategy across Merchandising, Logistics, Ecommerce and Stores that would enable future growth and establish best-in-class business practices across the enterprise while reducing cost-per-unit logistics costs and improving inventory accuracy.
Results: Developed an accelerated, multi-year enterprise solution strategy that was sensitive to the financial needs of this growing company. Re-architected their WMS solution to incorporate RFID-capable receiving and pick/pack processing that eventually resulted in a 50% reduction in per-unit warehouse operating costs and dramatically improved inventory accuracy to the stores. Approach was to re-platform the E-commerce solution from Magento to Hybris followed by an implementation of Oracle Merchandising and Oracle POS solutions. All within a 24-month timeframe (which was eventually realized, on-time and within the identified budget).
